Escape from the Grip is the dramatic autobiography of a young Rumanian-jewish girl, in whom the spark of freedom will not be extinguished. Judy learns early in life how to survive and preserve her identity under an all-pervading dictatorship. The shadow of the secret police always looms threateningly near her family and their friends. At last, her family find a way to leave the country they had loved. To a great extent all is triggered by her childhood neighbour, Michael Wurmbrand (son of the legendary Pastor Richard Wurmbrand, fourteen years imprisoned for his faith). Years later, while in Israel, separated from him, Judy decides to accept Christ as the Messiah, and later marries Michael. They now live in the United States.
